La Vista police apprehended a 61-year-old daycare employee as part of an ongoing investigation that has resulted in the state closing two daycares.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the LVPD reported the arrest of John Key. He has been charged with third-degree sexual assault of a child aged 14 or younger, according to an LVPD news release issued on Wednesday. According to Sarpy County Court filings, the charge documents sexual intercourse that does not result in serious personal injury and dates back to July 14.
“For the safety of the children in both daycares,” Nebraska Health and Human Services issued an emergency order for Mom’s Day Care and Bright Stars Childcare while the agency and police conduct their joint investigation, according to the release.
He is scheduled to appear at Sarpy County Court on Thursday.
