A 52-year-old Citrus County man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after deputies responded to a trespassing call and found him trying to break into an Islamorada home.
Del Cordova Lopez has been charged with attempted burglary, theft, and criminal mischief in connection with the incident on the 74000 block of Overseas Highway.

Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence at 1 a.m. When they arrived, they saw Lopez on the property holding rocks.
According to security footage from the home, Lopez attempted to steal a package before attempting to force his way into the residence with rocks. The attempted break-in caused around $600 in damage to the front door.
Lopez was arrested and transferred to jail.
