A Booneville woman is facing drug charges after attempting to evade police during an arrest last week and then being discovered in possession of methamphetamine.

According to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, Jacqueline Wheelington, 38, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant on July 24 at Big V in Booneville. When deputies approached her, Wheelington tried to leave on foot but was arrested by Deputy Hunter Arnold.

Following the arrest, Deputy N’Shaun Cameron found a felony amount of methamphetamine hidden on Wheelington’s bicycle.

Judge Ray Hall of Prentiss County Justice Court ordered her arrest and set her bond at $10,000. The Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) has also placed a hold.

North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith will take the case before the upcoming Prentiss County Grand Jury for additional action.
