The Portland Police Bureau said nine suspects were apprehended during a stolen vehicle operation on Sunday.

The 61st Portland Metro Stolen Vehicle Operation was centered on East Portland and the Gresham border.

According to authorities, the stolen vehicle operation led to:

  • 7 stolen vehicles recovered
  • 3 guns seized
  • 9 arrests
  • 6 warrants serviced
  • 7 vehicle eludes
  • 2 pursuits

During the operation, an Oregon State Police trooper spotted a stolen car near NE 99th Avenue and NE Glisan Street. The stolen vehicle operation team discovered the car around NE 99th Avenue and NE Pacific Street, but officers did not pursue owing to the driver’s irresponsible behavior.

The Air Support Unit pursued the stolen car, which smashed into another vehicle around SE 146th Avenue and SE Division Street.

According to police, the suspect escaped on foot but was pursued by the driver of the car with which he collided before being apprehended by cops.

According to authorities, officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic shotgun-style firearm inside the stolen automobile. According to reports, the serial number of the rifle had been changed.

Felipe Cazares, 35, of Hillsboro, was booked into Multnomah County Jail for unauthorized possession of a firearm, attempting to elude, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and felony-level property damage.

The Portland Police Bureau, Gresham Police Department, Port of Portland, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Multnomah County District Attorney’s Auto Theft Task Force, Vancouver Police Department, and the community-based group PDX Stolen Cars all contributed to the stolen vehicle operation.
