Eureka-area Man Apprehended After Being Hit By A Pickup

A Eureka man was hit by a pickup while fleeing a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office officer who was attempting to arrest him on an active warrant, and the deputy discovered the man was in possession of illegal substances after the accident, according to court documents.

According to the probable-cause statement, David James Bradshaw, 38, of Eureka’s Jefferson County, was standing in the median at the intersection of Highways 30 and MM near House Springs on April 1 when a deputy sought to arrest him on a warrant.

The deputy was escorting Bradshaw to a patrol vehicle when he allegedly escaped before being detained. Bradshaw fled onto the northbound lanes of Highway MM and was hit by a U-Haul pickup truck, according to the report.

The deputy then apprehended Bradshaw, alleging that he possessed a bag containing 12 capsules. Bradshaw informed the deputy that the capsules contained fentanyl, according to the report.

According to the report, the deputy then released Bradshaw to emergency medical services, who transported him to an area hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol evaluated the pills on June 17-18, and the lab results revealed that the chemical in the capsules tested positive for fentanyl, according to reports.

On June 27, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Bradshaw with possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, and resisting arrest, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison, according to court records.

Bradshaw was already charged in March with second-degree burglary, a class D felony, and theft, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine, according to court records.

According to the probable-cause statement in that instance, Bradshaw reportedly entered an apartment through a window on November 8, 2024, at about 2:30 p.m., in the 10 block of Fiedler Court in Fenton’s Jefferson County area. He then allegedly stole a 65-inch television worth $358.

Bradshaw was identified in a photo lineup and allegedly captured on video surveillance at the residence, according to the report.

Bradshaw was detained on July 22 at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. He was being detained in jail on a $5,000 bond on Monday, according to court records.
