Portland Police Arrest 2 People And Seize Narcotics, Firearm After Vehicle Stop In Sunderland Neighborhood

During a stop in the Sunderland Neighborhood on August 3rd, Portland police officers arrested two people and recovered a large amount of narcotics, a pistol, and cash, according to a Portland Police Bureau (PPB) release. Officers responded to a complaint of an occupied 2024 Jeep Cherokee without license plates. To ensure everyone’s safety, law enforcement officers used Stop Sticks to deflate the vehicle’s tires and prevent a possible chase.

Despite these measures, the driver attempted to flee, driving the vehicle at an officer before abandoning it on Northeast Faloma Road, unharmed by the confrontation. Police set up a perimeter and detained both criminals with the help of more policemen, a K9, and a UAS operator. According to the police report, Crystal H. Holder, 35, was arrested first, then Justin C. Holder, 42.

The subsequent investigation showed dealer amounts of narcotics previously identified as fentanyl and methamphetamine. Along with the drugs, officials confiscated a semiautomatic pistol, weapon magazines, live ammo, and approximately $10,000 in cash, all of which are susceptible to civil forfeiture. The PPB’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit helped in the investigation. Justin Holder was arrested on many accusations, including attempted assault in the second degree and several drug-related felonies. Crystal Holder was charged with illegal entry into a motor vehicle and other drug-related offenses.

The deployment of drones by the PPB has been highlighted as a tactic for improving safety and efficiency. These Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) are used for a variety of objectives, including crime scene documentation, search and rescue missions, and situational awareness during crucial crises. According to the Portland Police Bureau’s website, this technology aims to reduce tensions while still providing crucial evidence. The PPB’s official website contains open statistics on drone use.
