At least five individuals were shot in a single incident on the city’s South Side Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
The Chicago Fire Department reported that the shooting took place near the intersection of East 43rd Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue, and at least five individuals were shot.
The Chicago Police Department said they responded to a call that someone had been shot in the 700 block of East 43rd Street shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, the police reported discovering five victims, ranging in age from 35 to 72, who had sustained gunshot injuries.
According to firefighters, three adults were carried to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, while another was taken in fair condition. A fifth adult was also transported in excellent condition to Provident Hospital on Grand Boulevard.
It irritates and frustrates her that there is so little consideration for life in these circumstances.
Police have no information on an offender, and no one is in custody at this time.
