Mom And Son Each Win $50k Lottery Jackpot In Maryland

A trip to visit his mother turned into a life-changing experience for a North Carolina construction worker after he bought two Bonus Match 5 tickets in Parkville, one for himself and one for his mother.

On August 4, the man stopped at Speedy Convenience Store, 7101 Darlington Drive, and purchased the two tickets. He claimed that he filled out separate play slips with the same three-number combinations, each valid for seven consecutive drawings beginning that evening.

That night’s drawing produced an exact match on both tickets. “I just remained calm and chilled,” the son stated when he collected his reward on August 18 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

His mother went to pick up her $50,000 prize the next day. She is a longtime lottery player who said she frequently uses the same numbers but no longer remembers how she chose them. The retired Parkville homeowner said she may use her windfall to buy a car but is not in a hurry.

Her son stated that he is still undecided about how he will spend his award.
