One of five men arrested in connection with a string of “jugging” crimes in Pearland has been convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
On May 23, 2025, Darise Booker, 31, of Houston, was convicted of two felony counts related to organized criminal conduct.

The accusations arise from a series of occurrences investigated by the Pearland Police Department from October to November 2023. During that time, six elderly people were targeted after withdrawing money from local banks. Suspects followed the individuals and either robbed them personally or broke into their vehicles to grab the withdrawn funds.
Booker was one of five men arrested and indicted after an exhaustive investigation by the Pearland Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, with cooperation from area law enforcement. The additional suspects identified and indicted in this case are:
- Dennerick Crew – aged 35
- Damien West – aged 20
- Howard Glaze – aged 32
- Christopher Eugene – aged 20
All of the individuals are from Houston and are thought to have been involved in similar jugging instances in the area.
Pearland Police advise citizens that jugging is still a current threat in the area, and anyone who witnesses strange conduct around banks or ATMs should report it immediately.
