The Ridgeline Witch Trial

A traditional sketch depiction of a Salem witch trial.

On October 22, 2018, an announcement came over the Ridgeline intercom that surprised many students. Mr. Scott, an English teacher at Ridgeline, would be holding a witch trial on October 30th! I for one, only tuned in once I heard “witch trial”, so I was suitably confused.

In an effort to clear things up, I went and asked Mr. Scott a few questions.

He was very welcoming, and explained his ideas with a smile, “This is actually the Historical Society’s club activity for October, reenacting the Salem Witch Trials, and this year we’re opening it up to the school!”

It’s going to be held on October 30th, right after school in Mr. Scott’s room. There are going to be treats, but you can bring some if you want. You’re also welcome to come dressed up as either a witch or a… pilgrim, but it’s not required.

Other students, such as Hayley Zook, a freshman, were confused when I initially brought up the subject, but after some more information, she responded, “Yeah it sounds fun!”, and promised to come if her club activities didn’t take place that day.

Come on October 30th to have some fun and learn about the historical witch trials!
