Toledo Fire & Rescue officials stated they were notified that a neighbor had rescued a victim from the burning house. They were still searching for the Good Samaritan on Monday morning.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of those who died in the fire.

Neighbors on Dorian Drive remember the home’s deceased owner.

One of his neighbors said, “We’ll miss him greatly.” “He’d be a great help if we had any questions. You always felt that he was assisting his mother and father; that’s how we treated him.”

The call arrived at 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning. According to TFRD personnel on the site, the fire occurred in the back of the house. Firefighters on the site are investigating how the fire originated. They said that when workers arrived, no smoke detectors were activated inside the house. According to the fire brigade, the house is a total loss.

“You could see smoke rising from the back of the home. I did not witness the fire. However, smoke was flowing from the back of the home, and the entrance was completely black. And I glanced inside from my house and saw that it was very dark and burned,” one neighbor recalled.

Neighbors informed 13 Action News that they had known the man to heat his home with wood, but the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Other neighbors said such a scene is unusual in the calm neighborhood.

“I’ve been living here for 63 years. This has never happened on our street before. I mean, we’ve had some fires around here, nothing significant, thank goodness, but this is the first time I’m aware of a fire-related death,” said a Dorian Drive neighbor.

We can also confirm that another individual died in this fire, although we don’t know who.

According to a TFRD statement, one of the firefighters on the scene received a non-life-threatening injury and was sent to an area hospital for evaluation. The nature of that damage is unknown.

Around 30 minutes after arriving on the site, TFRD was able to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
