An Orlando teenager was detained for driving without a license after admitting to being in the U.S. illegally.
At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy observed 19-year-old Alex Milton Miranda Miranda driving a silver Ford truck on Citrus Grove Road in Minneola, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed his speed as 56 mph.
The deputy then pulled over the vehicle and asked Miranda Miranda for his driver’s license. He initially remained silent and gazed at the traveler. When asked again in Spanish, he ultimately admitted to not having one, according to the report.
He simply presented a Guatemala Consulate ID. He indicated that he was in the country illegally, and the vehicle was registered to a relative, according to the report.
Miranda Miranda was detained on the suspicion of driving without a license (he had never had one). He was taken to the Lake County Jail and freed after posting a $500 bond.
