Mid-South rain forecast: Showers along I-40 until Monday Morning

Drivers and residents in the Mid-South should expect rain tonight as scattered showers move in along and north of Interstate 40.

According to the National Weather Service Memphis, a weak warm front will bring scattered rain showers beginning late Sunday evening, September 14, and continuing until early Monday morning, September 15. The highest likelihood of precipitation will stay north of I-40, spanning sections of west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas.

Forecasters predict that rainfall will be mild, ranging between 0.1 and 0.25 inches. While no flooding or strong storms are forecast, moist weather may result in slick patches during the Monday morning commute.

Rain chances are predicted to decrease by mid-morning Monday as the system travels east. Drier weather will return for the remainder of the day, with further fronts likely later in the week.

Residents traveling overnight or headed to work early Monday should allow extra time for their drive, particularly along I-40 and nearby roadways.
