Five people have been detained in Mississippi after a two-year-old was shot in the leg.
According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred in the middle of September.
The shooting was reported to authorities in early October, after the toddler was treated at a nearby hospital.
The following people were arrested: Jaycob Boykin, Sylvania Wiltcher, Katelyn Carmichael, Gregory Palmer, and Robert Dearing.
All were charged with child neglect, and Carmichael was also charged with impeding prosecution.
Boykin and Wilcher were charged with child neglect, child abuse, and evidence tampering.
The investigation is still ongoing at the moment.
The child is likely to fully recover.
