According to the NYC Sheriff’s Office, what seemed to be a standard footwear shop in New York City was in fact a large-scale drug trafficking center.
Members of the Sheriff’s Joint Compliance Task Force reported seizing hundreds of pounds of cannabis and THC products, as well as various narcotics such as claimed Xanax, Molly, ketamine, tusi, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms.
According to officials, the shop, which was designed to resemble a shoe boutique, also had reports of allegedly selling to minors. Inside, authorities uncovered rows of shoe boxes that contained narcotics and packaging materials.
The seizure is part of a bigger crackdown on illegal cannabis and drug sales in New York City. Law enforcement organizations frequently disguise these clandestine operations as legitimate retail stores, making discovery more difficult and dangerous for the community.
“This location was operating under the guise of a sneaker store,” a statement read. “We’ve padlocked another illegal operation and taken more drugs off our streets.”
The Sheriff’s Office announced that the scene has been sealed pending further investigation.
