According to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, on October 24, 2025, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the DEA Galveston Resident Office, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Galveston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Houston Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations, seized over 400 kilograms (880 pounds) of methamphetamine from a Houston residence.
Sheriff Hawthorne stated, “This is a huge victory against the Mexican Drug Cartels and their local minions in our efforts to eliminate dangerous drug trafficking in our communities and an excellent collaboration between agencies. Let this be an example to all those attempting to traffic drugs in our area that law enforcement takes this threat seriously and will work together to take it down.”
