A Mississippi businessman pled guilty to participating in a scheme to defraud Medicare.
According to the statement, Willian De Gibbs of Toomsuba, Mississippi, paid kickbacks for fraudulent doctors’ orders and then used those orders to charge the government insurer over $19 million via seven different durable medical equipment supply companies.

He then attempted to cheat Medicare by filing fake claims for medically unnecessary orthotic braces for beneficiaries who had not requested or required them.
Gibbs pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud.
He is set to be sentenced on February 25, 2026, and faces a maximum of ten years in jail.
