Northern Indiana is bracing for a stretch of cold temperatures and light precipitation until early next week, as Arctic air sweeps in.
Wind chills in Northern Indiana could reach 5 to 15 degrees below zero this morning, as well as Sunday night and Monday night, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures will stay in the 20s and low 30s through Sunday before falling into the teens and 20s early next week.
Light snow and freezing showers are anticipated tonight, with little to no accumulation. However, a larger wave Saturday night and Sunday could deliver 1 to 3 inches of snow, with higher totals along Lake Michigan, where lake enhancement is possible.
Drivers should be prepared for slick travel conditions late Saturday and early Sunday, as well as keep an eye out for drastically changing visibility around the lake. Bitterly cold air will remain throughout Monday, causing dangerously low wind chills during the morning commute.
