2 D.C. Residents Apprehended For Wearing Mask In Public And Assaulting An Officer At Pentagon City Metro Station

Arlington County Police encountered resistance leading a recent crime prevention initiative at the Pentagon City Metro Station, which resulted in two arrests. The incident took place on the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. According to Arlington County, the initial confrontation started when an officer stationed for crime prevention purposes approached a male suspect wearing a face mask inside the metro station and instructed him to remove it. The suspect then attempted to flee, which prompted the officer to intervene.

The two suspects, identified as Dalonte Davis and Alonzo Davis, both 25 years old from Washington, D.C., are now facing charges including Wearing a Mask in Public and Obstruction of Justice, with Alonzo Davis also facing assault on police. An additional charge of assault on police resulted from another suspect, allegedly related to the first, physically confronting the officer during the officer’s attempt to detain the mask-wearing individual. The altercation did not result in any injuries, and further intervention by other officers led to the restraint and arrest of both individuals.

The Arlington County crime report provided information on additional offenses in the area, including several shoplifting incidents that occurred in various blocks, such as the 2900 block of S. Glebe Road, the 900 block of Army Navy Drive, and the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive; in the meantime, trespass and auto theft were listed as offenses, and they were located in the 3000 block of Columbia Pike and the 2100 block of Clarendon Boulevard, respectively.

Besides other issues like suspicious activities and fraud affecting Arlington’s physical and online spaces, online reporting—a modern way to report crimes that makes it easier to access information about incidents—showed more thefts happening in different places from the 1400 block of N. Pierce Street to the 1700 block of S. George Mason Drive. Not to be overlooked, property destruction was recorded twice for the same block, the 1400 block of 28th Street S. This pattern may indicate targeted malfeasance or possibly the presence of unruly elements in that area. The Arlington County report highlighted these as warranting attention.
