Idaho State Police (ISP) worked hard Monday morning to apprehend an Oregon man wanted on an outstanding felony warrant and possession charges, according to an ISP news release.
According to the announcement, ISP pursued the driver, a 29-year-old man from Salem, Oregon, for 71 miles on Interstate 84. The ISP did not reveal the man’s name.

The Idaho Press left several messages with ISP on Monday afternoon but did not receive any further information by press time.
The pursuit began on Interstate 84’s westbound lanes around mile marker 80 in Elmore County, when an ISP trooper “initiated a traffic stop with a Toyota Highlander,” according to the release.
“The driver failed to stop and eluded police traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour and navigating around several sets of spike strips,” the release states. “The pursuit came to a stop on (Interstate 84) at mile marker 9, in Payette County, when after a successful spike, the driver swerved and the Toyota crashed into the median.”
According to the release, the individual was detained on two felony charges: felony eluding a peace officer and an outstanding felony warrant, as well as two misdemeanors: possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
According to the release, ISP is still investigating the situation.
