A woman is in custody after randomly crashing a vehicle into two people and stabbing another with a butcher knife in the north suburbs on Monday morning, police said.
Gurnee police responded to reports of a car hitting a pedestrian in the 6100 block of Grand Avenue shortly after 10 a.m.

According to reports, a woman drove a car into a parking lot aisle, striking a 79-year-old man who was standing near his vehicle. The driver then struck another person, a 60-year-old woman.
According to authorities, the man received critical injuries and was brought to Advocate Condell Hospital, while the woman was transferred to Lake Forest Hospital with a non-life-threatening ankle injury.
The motorist fled the scene before authorities arrived, according to police, but when officers patrolled the area, they noticed a physical altercation involving a male of unknown age and a woman near the 6400 block of Grand Avenue.
Officers ordered the two to separate, at which point the woman rose up and aggressively approached an officer, who deployed a Taser, according to police.
Officers arrested the woman, a 25-year-old from Waukesha, Wisconsin.
According to police, after hitting the two people, the suspect entered a nearby parking lot and approached the male who was sitting inside his vehicle.
According to police, the woman used a huge butcher knife to slice the driver’s side tire and strike the vehicle’s glass. When the male exited his vehicle, a physical struggle ensued.
According to authorities, the male sustained many hand lacerations but was able to disarm and contain the woman until police arrived.
Police believe the woman targeted all three people at random, and the investigation is ongoing. There is no current threat to the public.
Charges were not immediately announced.
