Woman Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison In Crash That Killed Minnesota Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson, 2 More Prince George’s Co. Football Players

A 25-year-old woman was sentenced to three years in prison for a crash that left three people dead, including NFL rookie Khyree Jackson, in 2024.

On Wednesday, Cori Clingman was sentenced to three years on three counts of negligent homicide under the influence of alcohol in connection with the 2024 crash that killed Jackson and his former Wise High School football teammates Anthony Lytton, Jr., and Isaiah Hazel. Clingman’s sentencing comes after she pleaded guilty in November 2025.

The judge sentenced her in accordance with the plea agreement, which gave her five years in prison with all but one year suspended for each negligent homicide count, for a total of three years behind bars, including credit for over 350 days of home confinement and six days in jail.

Her defense attorney, Thomas Christopher Mooney, told reporters she could be eligible for parole soon.

Clingman was also sentenced to three years of supervised probation and 80 hours of community service following her release.

Both defense attorneys and prosecutors stated on Monday that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, with Clingman driving at 102 mph and the car carrying the three men traveling at 138 mph when they went off the road.

Emotional families of the late Prince George’s County football standouts packed the courtroom from wall to wall Wednesday, as their once longtime friend was sentenced for her role in the high-speed crash.

Jackson died only days before he was scheduled to return to Minnesota to play football with the Vikings.

“My son, my everything, my best friend, my absolute world was gone,” Jackson’s mother told the court.

Lytton, Jr.’s aunt told the judge she will “never forget her sister’s scream. It felt unreal, like a nightmare.”

In the gallery, family members tossed tissue boxes back and forth while letters from Hazel’s family described him as a “once in a lifetime person.”

Clingman turned to face the gallery, which was packed with friends and family members, and told the court, through floods and tears, that she was “sorry from the deepest place in her heart.”

Following the sentencing, Mooney, her defense attorney, spoke with media.

“She wanted to express her level of remorse, and it came out very loudly in cries and wails,” he recalled of her letter she read aloud in court.

“Speed and alcohol kills,” said State’s Attorney Tara Jackson after the sentencing. “It’s horrific to have to see parents grieving over the loss of their children, and it didn’t have to be this way. “

The Morning of the Crash

On the morning of July 6, 2024, Clingman, 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel, 24-year-old Anthony Lytton, Jr., and Jackson all left the same location in separate cars after partying and drinking.

Clingman’s Infiniti struck Jackson, Hazel, and Lytton as they were driving a Dodge Charger on Route 4 and Presidential Parkway in Upper Marlboro. The two vehicles collided as Clingman attempted to change lanes.

The incident sent the Charger off the right side of the road, where it struck several tree stumps before coming to a halt.

The Infiniti also hit a Chevrolet Impala, but the driver was unharmed.

The investigation revealed that Clingman was driving inebriated that night, resulting in the deadly collision.

Jackson, Hazel, and Lytton were best friends and played football together at Wise High School.

In April 2024, the Minnesota Vikings selected Jackson as a cornerback in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Following the sad crash, August 12 was designated Kyhree Jackson Day. Jackson’s family also established the Khyree Jackson Foundation, which provides student support through mentorships and scholarships while also campaigning for driver safety.
