A Texas man will serve 25 to 30 years in prison after traveling from Texas to Ohio, where he had a sexual encounter with a teen before attempting to fly to Florida with the girl.
The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio reported that a man from North Detroit, Texas, was detained in February 2025 at John Glenn International Airport while he was attempting to take a 15-year-old girl to Florida.
According to court documents, Harrison Barton, 38, met the victim online approximately a month before being arrested while playing Call of Duty on his mobile device. Barton then took a Greyhound bus from Texas to Ohio to meet the victim.
The teenager reportedly picked Barton up in Newcomerstown, Ohio, located north of Cambridge in Tuscarawas County. Barton informed detectives that he and the victim had a sexual interaction before arriving at the airport and that he took sexually explicit images of her.
At the time of his arrest, Barton was also wanted on an outstanding parole warrant from Texas stemming from an online solicitation of a minor charge, for which he was sentenced to ten years in prison.
A plea agreement that stipulated a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison led to his imprisonment outside of Ohio.
