Father Taken Into Custody After Stabbing His 3-month-old Boy And Throwing Him In The Snow To Die, Cops Say

A Pennsylvania father is accused of stabbing his three-month-old son and throwing him into the snow after allegedly making comments about sacrificing the child.

Michael Phillips, 44, was discovered saying, “I did it, God. I did it,” as police arrived, according to court documents in the horrifying case.

He was arrested on Wednesday after police were dispatched to the Millview Apartment Homes in Coatesville shortly after 11:35 a.m. to investigate a complaint of a stabbed infant, according to authorities.

According to police, Phillips stabbed his kid in the abdomen before carrying him outside and leaving him in the snow. The baby was evacuated to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he had emergency surgery. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office later stated that the infant was in critical but stable condition.

According to a criminal document acquired by WPHL, the child’s mother told investigators that Phillips had discussed sacrificing their son before the incident. She told her nine-year-old child to run for rescue.

According to the complaint, the baby’s mother raced outdoors and flung herself over the infant in an attempt to protect him.

When officers arrived, blood was apparent on Phillips’ shirt, and body camera footage showed him stating, “I did it, God.” “I did it.”

Neighbors told FOX29 that Phillips lived in the building with his girlfriend and their small children and that the atmosphere was chaotic and distressing.

However, when Edward Rivers, who lives in the apartment complex, met Phillips earlier that morning, he claimed he observed nothing strange.

“He’s always been a quiet, nice guy,” Rivers said. “Every time I see him, he says, ‘What’s up?’ This morning I saw him. He walked outside with his son and I saw him. He smiled to me, said goodbye like normal and walked out. To me it was surprising, because he seemed like a really nice guy. He was really a good neighbor.”

Phillips was scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary arraignment on Thursday morning. A judge terminated the proceedings after concluding that he was unable to answer basic questions and constantly asked God’s pardon.

He is being jailed in Chester County Prison on various accusations, including attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault with intent to cause significant bodily injury, and endangering the welfare of a child.
