2 People Charged For Smuggling Drugs Through Legal Mail Into Pennsylvania Prisons

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has charged two people for allegedly smuggling drugs into Pennsylvania prisons through legal mail.

Devin Walker, 34, and Dejah Schoolfield, 29, of Philadelphia are accused of using falsified legal credentials to deliver drug-saturated paper into prisons, as reported by PADOC.

PADOC says the inquiry began in May 2024 after security staff seized intercepted legal mail that was sent to an inmate who was suspected of drug smuggling. The envelope was allegedly marked with an Attorney Control Number (ACN) and a Time Code belonging to Thompson Law Office, P.C., and was one of seven parcels delivered to detainees in several Pennsylvania prisons.

Following an inquiry, authorities discovered that the inmate was collaborating with Walker and Schoolfield to introduce contraband into state prisons.

According to PADOC, Schoolfield illegally got an ACN by constructing a website that claimed to represent a genuine attorney. The envelope’s paper was analyzed, and detectives discovered it was saturated with synthetic cannabis.

Walker and Schoolfield were charged with forgery, identity theft, and contraband, among other offenses, according to PADOC.
