Two people were shot Sunday night in Merrillville.
Police were dispatched to the 7800 block of Rhode Island Street, outside Wyndham’s Howard Johnson Hotel, after 9:07 p.m.

Merrillville police would not provide how many people were shot and said individuals sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
A staff member at the hotel told WGN News that two boys, ages 18 to 19, were shot in the parking lot. According to the staff member, one person was shot in the leg, but no one was died.
It is unclear whether anyone is in custody, but police say all people involved are “accounted for.”
They call the incident as isolated, with no threat to the public.
