Massachusetts dogfighting ring arrested, suspect faces federal charges

A man from Carver has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged multi-year dogfighting scheme.

According to a Department of Justice news release, 49-year-old Corey Elliott and a co-conspirator ran a dogfighting operation under the kennel name “The No Name Gang,” in which they owned, raised, trained, and battled canines for sport and profit.

The prosecution documents allege that they talked extensively about dogfighting activities over several years, including scheduling fights, debating outcomes, placing wagers, and coordinating the acquisition, sale, and conditioning of dogs for fighting purposes.

Elliott and his co-conspirator reportedly bred, trained, and battled dogs for profit and pleasure, in addition to engaging in related animal cruelty and illegal gambling. The couple took precautions to evade detection by law enforcement, such as employing coded language and hiding dogs from public view.

In June 2023, law enforcement investigated the co-conspirator’s home and recovered many pit bull-type canines as well as evidence of dogfighting activity, such as veterinarian supplies, training equipment, and dogfighting instruments.

In June 2025, law authorities searched Elliott’s Carver home and seized several pit bull-type dogs from an outdoor kennel area. The dogs had scars consistent with dogfighting. It is also claimed that numerous materials compatible with dogfighting activities were discovered, including dog pedigrees, harnesses, leashes, syringes, and veterinary drugs, as well as equipment used to train and condition dogs.

Elliott has been charged with conspiracy to participate in an animal fighting operation in violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act. If convicted, he could face five years in jail, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

To report animal fighting crimes, contact your local law enforcement or the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Inspector General at 1-800-424-9121.
