A Columbia man has been sentenced to nearly a year and a half in county jail after pleading guilty to his involvement in two sexual misconduct incidents.
Michael Shields, 45, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of first-degree sexual misconduct for following women around stores and touching himself in a sexual manner.
The first incident took place in December in the 3600 block of Rangeline Street. The second incident occurred earlier this year, in February, near the 1900 block of North Providence Road.
Shields was sentenced to 180 days in the first case and 365 days in the second case. He was ordered to serve the terms consecutively for a total of 545 days in county jail. However, the court determined that Shields would be granted credit for time spent.
