North Las Vegas police say their Narcotics Unit yanked a massive load of illegal drugs off city streets on Thursday, including roughly 20 kilograms of methamphetamine, nearly 3.8 kilograms of heroin, and more than $10,000 in cash. The agency described the activities as part of a larger effort to disrupt trafficking and reduce crime in North Las Vegas. The department published a social media post on April 9 reporting the seizures.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department’s Facebook page, the Narcotics Unit seized 11,252.6 and 8,806.1 grams of methamphetamine; 2,375.2 and 1,411.9 grams of heroin; 18.8 grams of cocaine; and $10,180 in cash. The post praised the Narcotics Unit for their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the city. “Our Narcotics Unit continues to make a significant impact in our community,” the department noted, adding that the seizures “reflect an ongoing commitment to crime reduction, disrupting drug trafficking, and keeping North Las Vegas safe.”
Adding the data supplied by the department provides approximately 20,058.7 grams of methamphetamine, which is approximately 20.06 kilograms or about 44.2 pounds, and approximately 3,787.1 grams of heroin, which is approximately 3.79 kilograms or about 8.4 pounds. The department’s post provides the basis for these totals.
According to federal Drug Enforcement Administration statistics, methamphetamine and other synthetic narcotics continue to pose a significant national concern. The 2025 National Drug Threat Assessment stresses the impact of meth and synthetics on trafficking and public health. While large-scale seizures can impact street availability, government and public-health data indicate that enforcement is only part of a comprehensive solution.
North Las Vegas police have made similar huge recoveries recently, with Hoodline previously reporting on a December 2025 operation that seized more than 8 kg of meth and other drugs. The Las Vegas Review-Journal has chronicled historic, multi-pound meth hauls in the valley, highlighting why the region is a focus for narcotics police (Review-Journal).
The Narcotics Unit stated that investigations will continue and that its activities are part of a larger campaign to disrupt trafficking. Anyone with tips or information should call the North Las Vegas Police Department.
