A federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment on March 17 charging 52 gang members with intent to distribute, possession and distribution of controlled substances, and firearms violations. Forty defendants were charged with possessing weapons in support of a drug trafficking crime, while twenty-one were charged with possessing a machine gun in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
According to the indictment, members of La Familia Nunca Muere (LFNM) supplied cocaine, marijuana, heroin, and fentanyl within 1,000 feet of several places from 2018 to the present. Members also responded to perceived threats without first checking their truth and engaged in acts of violence, such as shootings and killings in public areas.
The defendants played various roles that helped the drug trafficking conspiracy achieve its objectives. Leaders, suppliers, drug point owners, enforcers, runners, sellers, lookouts, and facilitators are among the various roles.
