Teen In Trouble Following Calling 911 With Fake Road Rage Allegations

A Summerfield teenager is facing charges after allegedly calling 911 to report a bogus road rage allegation.

Bryce Thompson, 19, is charged with hit and run, 911 abuse, and willfully reporting false information about an alleged crime after being arrested by sheriff’s officers in Marion County this week.

According to an arrest complaint, Thompson’s ex-girlfriend stated that she was traveling near the Winn-Dixie on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Belleview on February 13 when Thompson intentionally struck her car with his blue 2009 Chevy Trailblazer. He departed the scene.

While the 18-year-old ex-girlfriend’s accident was being investigated, Thompson contacted 911 from another location, claiming he had been the victim of a road rage incident. He said that a woman used a metal club to destroy his passenger-side mirror. He claimed that he and the fake woman had gotten into an argument while traveling on U.S. 301 in Dallas the day before. Thompson claimed that the woman, still enraged from the previous day’s incident, noticed him and destroyed his Trailblazer.

During the investigation, evidence was discovered that verified the ex-girlfriend’s version of events and demonstrated that Thompson lied to the 911 operator and the deputy investigating his case. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Thompson was arrested and jailed at the Marion County Jail before being released on a $3,000 bond.

Thompson was arrested earlier this year for allegedly stealing Lego sets and other products from a Walmart in Summerfield.
