Cache Valley mall has been given plans to close down for good in February of 2024, because the mall itself is getting almost no foot traffic.
For the past several months, Cache Valley Mall has been getting almost no foot traffic and it is pretty much on the brink of closing. With all their anchor stores gone, it’s only a matter of time until they’re given the “okay” to close it for good.
There have been a few different theories as to what the mall would become if it does close. Some theories include that it’ll be turned into a Target or some other store, along with apartment buildings.
So far, the plan is to demolish the mall and start construction on a 150,000 square foot building, 346 residential units, and a 156 room hotel with 21,000 square feet of flooring. There is also planned to be a new road to allow easier access to the new building and apartments. There is going to be a public right-of-way connecting Main Street and 200 East.
There’s still a few stores left in the mall, but they’re dwindling fast. Natalie Heki, a former employee of a store in the mall, says “Our store actually got closed down in March because we didn’t have enough foot traffic to keep open.”
