The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for 37 counties in West Texas until 10 p.m. CST Sunday, warning of big hail, destructive winds, and isolated tornadoes as storms form and intensify during the evening hours.
The watch includes significant cities such as Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, Pecos, Andrews, Big Spring, and Sweetwater, as well as the Permian Basin and the Concho Valley region. Forecasters predict sporadic thunderstorms will swiftly intensify, generating hail up to one inch in diameter and wind gusts surpassing 60 mph.
