Woman’s Grooming Attempts Halted By Concerned Parent, Police Say

A Jersey Shore woman groomed a child by sleeping in her bed, sending her thousands of messages, and telling other adults the minor was her “type,” police say.

Detective Justin Segura said Amber Lee Koch, 29, met the victim through another minor in April. In that short time, Koch emailed the child over 2,000 pages of texts, which were later discovered by law enforcement, according to Segura.

According to the complaint, Koch and the child would converse until early in the morning, occasionally falling asleep on the phone. Conversations became heated when Koch allegedly showed the child hickeys on her breast while speaking on FaceTime.

During an extraction of the minor’s phone in September, Segura discovered thousands of communications between them. He also noticed that Koch was allegedly granted access to the victim’s GPS position via an app.

Several pictures Koch sent to the child were also discovered. Koch provided several of her in bathing suits. Others show Koch wearing only a towel and messaging about getting into the shower, Segura wrote.

Koch messaged the victim in August while she was out of town, saying, “Good morning, my love; I hope you slept well. “I miss you more and more every second, and I despise not seeing your gorgeous face. I hope you’re having so much fun.” According to Segura, she is wearing a low-cut shirt in the photo that accompanied the message. Another image Koch allegedly provided to the victim a day later shows her standing in a mirror while wearing the victim’s sweatshirt.

Koch discusses her love for the youngster in earlier pieces, as well as enjoying a stay at the adult’s house on Long Lane in Jersey Shore.

Koch told a witness that the infant was gorgeous, Segura stated. “I don’t look at her that way, but if she was old, yes,” Koch allegedly told the lady.

The victim admitted spending the night with Koch. She recounted falling asleep in Koch’s arms. According to one of the victim’s parents, Koch purchased a vaporizer for the 13-year-old and made comments like, “If (victim) wasn’t 13 years old, she would be my type.”

“It was clear that [redacted] had grown emotionally and physically attached to Koch as their relationship was building,” Segura stated.

Koch is charged with indecent assault on a person under the age of 16, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor. She is being held on $50,000 monetary bail but can post 10% of the amount. She is due to appear before Judge Denise Dieter for a preliminary hearing on January 21.
