A Florida man who was on bond for the shooting deaths of his girlfriend and her unborn child was recently arrested again while awaiting trial.
Detectives from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently apprehended a man who was free on bond in Leon County for the shooting death of his girlfriend and her unborn child in 2024.
The PCSO detained Jha’Kari Martin-Sugrin, 23, in Central Florida last month. The Lakeland Police Department provided information that guided PCSO detectives to Jha’Kari’s location. Jha’Kari has an ongoing warrant out of Hillsborough County for fleeing to elude after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.
Because of Jha’Kari’s record, a large number of PCSO investigators arrived at a residence in Eagle Lake at approximately 11:24 a.m. to detain the wanted man.
When the detectives arrived, Jha’Kari was brought into arrest without incident and transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center.
In October 2024, Jha’Kari was arrested in Leon County for fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend, who also lost her unborn child. Jha’Kari was charged with two counts of manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. According to law officials, he then bonded out of the Leon County Jail and was issued with an ankle monitor while waiting for trial.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office stated that Hillsborough County’s warrant did not identify when Jha’Kari fled from their deputies.
