Heather Crawford was brought into jail Monday evening after her husband reported to the Martinsburg Borough Police Department at 5:17 p.m. that she had fired at him behind their home on the 200 block of Woodlawn Ave., near the garage. Officers from several agencies responded, and Crawford was apprehended without incident after pointing police to a location. Authorities claimed a .380-caliber Ruger LCP pistol was discovered under a kitchen mat inside the home.

Later Monday night, investigators executed a search order at the home and seized two expended cartridges. According to the affidavit, the evidence included 380 ACP round casings and photographs of shooting damage to the garage door.

When asked why she tried to kill her husband, Crawford told police he was “evil and had to die,” according to the affidavit.

Martinsburg Borough Police investigated the matter, with assistance from Roaring Spring, North Woodbury, and Freedom Township Police.

Crawford faces allegations of criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

She was arraigned on Tuesday morning and denied bail.
