A New York City man won the final $1 million top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off while visiting a friend in Morningside, Prince George’s County, and intends to invest the winnings.
“A man from New York City scored a $1 million Lottery win on a scratch-off he purchased while visiting a friend in the Prince George’s County community of Morningside. A regular Lottery player regardless of the state where he is, the winner regards playing scratch-offs as “just a fun thing to do,” he said June 12 after claiming the windfall.

He described his reaction to winning as pleased, noting that it surpassed his previous top lottery win of less than $500. His money strategy: “Invest!”
The millionaire-making win occurred on the $20 Millionaire’s Club ticket, which went on sale in July 2024 with five top-tier million-dollar rewards available. The giant ticket won by the New York player is the final of those elite prizes.
Discount Tobacco & 99 Cent Store on 6701 Suitland Road in Morningside sold the ticket and will earn a $1,000 prize.
