All six individuals charged in a 2024 attack on two NYPD officers outside a Long Island City hotel have been sentenced, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.

Miguel Chiluisa, 24, of Roosevelt Avenue in Corona, and Natali Iza, 28, whose address was not provided, pled guilty to two charges of attempted second-degree assault. Supreme Court Justice Leigh Cheng sentenced them to one to three years in prison. Christian Taipe, 31, of 36th Avenue in Astoria, pled guilty to similar counts and received the same sentence.

Alejandro Munoz, 43; Juan Munoz, 26; and Karina Navarro-Chavez, 43, all of 10th Street in Long Island City, pled guilty to second-degree riot and were sentenced to 364 days in jail.

According to court documents, Iza started the altercation by shouting at and assaulting one of the policemen. Chiluisa then hurled a child’s bicycle at the officers, while Navarro-Chavez assaulted an officer in the head with an undetermined weapon. The officers were pushed, shoved, and kicked by the entire throng.

One cop handcuffed Chiluisa, who then fled and was discovered an hour later at a nearby metro station. Iza and Taipe handed themselves in the next day, while the remaining suspects were apprehended on the site.

Both officers suffered injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Dina Hodges of the Felony Trial Bureau IV.

A brutal early morning attack on two NYPD policemen by six individuals has landed them in several prison and jail terms.
