A woman is under arrest after police say a body with a gunshot wound was discovered inside a burning car on a Glendale freeway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reports that just after 10:30 p.m. on April 21, troopers responded to a car fire on northbound Loop 101 at Union Hills Drive. According to DPS, a woman was standing outside the car, and after the fire was doused, a body with a gunshot wound was discovered in the front passenger seat.

The woman was transported to a hospital for assessment.
According to investigators, the woman drove the automobile and is the suspect. Tana’sa Marae Chambers, 23, has been recognized. “She was taken into custody and will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail later today on homicide charges,” DPS Sgt. Kameron Lee stated. “A gun was located in the vehicle.”
During an initial appearance, a prosecutor stated that Chambers acknowledged shooting the deceased in the head while driving and then setting fire to the car in an attempt to destroy evidence of the victim’s body inside.
The prosecutor went on to say that “the state believes the defendant is an extreme danger to the community,” describing the crime as deliberate and intentional.
The southbound lanes of Loop 101 Agua FrÃa were closed but have since reopened.
The DPS said detectives are investigating Chambers’ relationship with the passenger.
Chambers received a $1 million cash-only bond.
