The FBI’s Tampa Field Office has launched an urgent investigation into the disappearance of Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez, a commercial driver who vanished last week while driving a load of autos from Georgia to Florida.
On April 16, 2026, Gonzalez, a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) driver for a private trucking company, loaded multiple vehicles at the Port of Brunswick in Georgia. His planned itinerary was a direct swing south to Miami, Florida, for delivery.
According to detectives, Gonzalez arrived at a truck stop in Brevard County, Florida, about 1:21 a.m. and stopped for several hours to relax.
The timeline takes an unexpected turn the next morning. At 7:49 a.m., GPS data from the rig showed the truck drove south for one exit before abruptly turning around and returning north to Jacksonville.
Gonzalez became inaccessible shortly after the change of route, and the truck was reported missing.
The next day, April 17, federal officials discovered the abandoned truck in Port Wentworth, Georgia. The authorities reported Gonzalez’s disappearance during the vehicle’s recovery.
The carrier’s search revealed the theft of several automobiles he was transporting. Three of the vehicles have subsequently been recovered in various locations throughout Florida, while the driver and others remain missing.
The FBI is now specifically targeting the Brevard County Rest Area in Grant-Valkaria, Florida. They’re looking for any images or video footage taken by tourists at that spot between 1 and 8 a.m. on Friday, April 17.
Investigators are particularly interested in the southern section of the rest area, near the ramp that leads back onto I-95 South.
Authorities are treating the incident as a possible hijacking and are appealing for the public’s assistance in piecing together Gonzalez’ final known movements.
