A University of Michigan student was discovered deceased at an off-campus residence, authorities confirmed.
On Thursday, April 23, Ann Arbor police officers found a deceased male inside a home in the 600 block of East University Avenue.

He was identified as Kevin Rutz, 21, of Ann Arbor, according to Chris Page, spokesperson for the Ann Arbor Police Department, in an email dated April 27.
Page reported that there were no traces of damage on his body, and foul play is not suspected. The medical examiner’s office will identify Rutz’s cause and manner of death.
Melissa Overton, UM’s Deputy Police Chief and Public Information Officer, confirmed on April 27 that Rutz lived off campus.
In an email dated April 25, Laura Elgas, assistant dean for academic and student affairs at the UM School of Information, described Rutz as a senior pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Information and stated that he died in an “untimely accident.”
“We remember and appreciate Kevin’s contributions to our school, the university, and the broader community, and we extend our deepest condolences to his parents, family, and loved ones during this difficult time,” the email reads.
“This loss is felt across the UMSI community.”
