Officers were able to track down the clinic’s owner, 62-year-old Alex Borrero, thanks to the FBI.

Borrero is suspected of participating in a system that fakes car accidents and then invoices insurance companies for phantom injuries.

“The victim here, which is the insurance company, reached out, noticed there was a small amount of individuals that were engaged in a large number of crash and would subsequently always get some sort of medical relief after,” said Miami Police Chief Manny Morales.

Officers were observed questioning a woman in the back of a police car.

When pressed for a comment, Borrero stated in Spanish that it was merely an investigation.

In June, the same case led to the detention of Rodylaidi Martinez, 30, and Greter Aguirre Guerra, 24.
