A woman is dead and a man is under arrest following what authorities are calling a homicide in a Montgomery County retirement community.
Montgomery County Police said the incident occurred at 6 p.m. at the Leisure World retirement community off Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
Police arrived to a report of a cardiac arrest. When authorities arrived, they discovered an adult woman who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
A male suspect is in custody.
What they’re saying: Neighbors told FOX 5 DC they were stunned by what happened, emphasizing that this gated community for individuals 55 and above is safe, and they are saddened to hear a woman died.
I’m just in shock. One of the reasons I opted to live here a year and a half ago was because it is a gated and safe community, but it appears that whoever perpetrated the killing is now in custody,” said resident Alyssa Dortort.
What we don’t know: We don’t know the identity of the woman who died or the man who was detained, nor do we know their specific relationship.
