A 21-year-old man was detained early Saturday in connection with his roommate’s deadly gunshot following a disturbance at a home in Dallas, authorities said.
The Sachse Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call at 4:37 a.m. on July 19 about a disturbance in the 2200 block of Bent Oak Trail. Officers arrived to observe an incident between two roommates.

Police allege that Rick Jones shot his roommate during the incident. The person was pronounced dead on the scene. Jones was arrested without incident and transferred to Rowlett Jail, where he was charged with murder.
Authorities have not revealed the victim’s name until they have notified the next of kin. According to investigators, the case is still open, but there is no ongoing threat to the public.
