A man from Garland was apprehended this week for the murder of a newborn in November.
On Wednesday, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Andrew Garza, 20, in an apartment complex in Garland.
Investigators suspect he is responsible for the death of 3-week-old Jonah Garza on November 24, 2024, at a residence in Royse City.
The baby was taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and confirmed dead. Following an autopsy, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the baby’s death was a homicide.
This Monday, investigators from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Garza on charges of capital murder of a person under the age of ten.
He is being held in the Hunt County Jail on a bond of more than $1 million.
The sheriff’s office has yet to provide specifics about the baby’s death.
It is unclear how Garza is related to the child.
There is no word regarding the motive.
