According to a representative for the United States Marshals Service, 143 children had been reported missing in Shelby County before the federal task force began. Several of the youngsters discovered were situated outside of Tennessee.

“The Memphis Safe Task Force is committed to using every resource available to locate and recover missing and endangered children,” said Tyreece Miller, the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee.

As of Oct. 27, federal task force officials recorded 1,638 arrests. The statistics report includes ten homicide arrests, 178 narcotics arrests, 152 firearm arrests, and 693 warrants served. In addition, more than 280 firearms were seized.

More than 20 local, state, and federal authorities participate in the task group. Residents can learn more about the federal efforts by visiting the City of Memphis’ Safe & Clean webpage.
