2 People Found Dead In Southwest Las Vegas Home After Child Calls 911

Two people were found dead inside a home in a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood after a young child called 911 Wednesday morning, police say.

According to Lt. Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the call was received around 7:20 a.m. in the 8600 block of Rowland Bluff Avenue, near Durango Drive and Mountains Edge Parkway.

A young child reported to the 911 dispatcher that his mother had sustained injuries and required police assistance.

Officers came to find a man and woman in their late twenties or early thirties with serious injuries. Price reported that the police pronounced them both dead at the scene.

LVMPD later stated in a news release on Thursday that police discovered both the male and the woman had been shot, and the case is classified as a double homicide.

Investigators believe this was an isolated event with no danger to the public, but Price stated that they were still working on securing a warrant to do a thorough search of the property.

When asked if the event was related to domestic violence, Price stated that the investigation is still ongoing. There are details that lead us to assume that this is not a murder-suicide, but we still haven’t entered the residence,” he told reporters. “We’re still working on obtaining search warrants before we can confirm that information.”

Child Protective Services has been contacted to assist the child who called 911, Price added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LVMPD’s homicide department or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555, where they can remain anonymous.
