A Wisconsin man was handcuffed on Tuesday afternoon inside a Davenport convenience store after the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded quickly.
Around 2:32 p.m. on April 14, deputies got a complaint about a retail theft at a shop on US 27 near the I-4 interchange.
Store employees said that a white man suspect fled the area in a white Chevrolet Equinox. The automobile was easily identified by its Wisconsin license plate.
Using the department’s Real Time Crime Center, police quickly identified the driver as 28-year-old Donovan Michael Hundertmark.
The quest did not last long. When officers apprehended the vehicle and arrested Hundertmark, the suspect appeared surprised by the local law enforcement processes. Hundertmark is said to have screamed, “They don’t do this in Wisconsin!” when the handcuffs clicked into place.
Despite his surprise, the arrest followed protocol. Hundertmark was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and officially charged with second-degree petty retail theft.
