The 22-23 Swim Team Information Meeting

The RHS Swim Team Coaches are hosting their 6th annual Swim Team Information Meeting.

As it nears the tryouts at the Mountain Crest Aquatic Center on September 26th, students at Ridgeline were invited to come to the lecture hall at 7 PM on September 8th.

Students had the opportunity to win prizes, meet new coaches, and look over the new swim meet schedule.  One of the significant changes to this year’s schedule are some of the swim meet locations and the dates. The St. George Greg Fernley Invitational Swim Meet moved from November 3rd to November 5th at the Dixie Technical College. Last year, it was held at the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center from November 4th to November 6th, 2021.

Additionally, there is one swim meet location that some swimmers haven’t gone to yet.  RHS Swim Team vs.  BR Swim Team is being held at Bear River High School on January 12th, 2023 instead of Mountain Crest where it was normally held at.  There is one downside to joining the swim team which is the fees you have to pay.

The RHS Swim Team is also fundraising for team gear. There are now RHS Swim Team Bags for the first time.

Laura Rigby, a junior class officer at Ridgeline High School, said.  “I am hoping to get a record for the 500 freestyle race and beat the time back in 2017.  I hope the girls will win state again after its first state victory last year.”

Last year, the swim team broke many records. One example was the 200 medley relay.  Back in 2018, the record for the girls 200 medley relay was 2:00.12.  In the 21-22 swim season.  The record was broken by more than 6 seconds bringing it to 1:53.26, which was a new record because it beats the two minute mark and in the region 11 championship, they took 1st place beating the Green Canyon girls swim team by 0.46 seconds.
