The girl’s basketball team for Ridgeline High School has had a great season. February13th was the girl’s senior night. There are five seniors this year: Hallee Smith, Brinley Wiese, Macie Brown, Sydnee Zollinger, and Elise Livingston. These girls have played every year since they were freshmen. They are a very talented group of girls. To commemorate the seniors, each of them walked out with their parents and at least one sibling while the Ridgeline cheerleaders made a line on each side. Five other girls on the team were at the end with a gift to give to the girls.
It was a sad night for the seniors knowing that this is their last year. They have accomplished many things such as 1x State champions, 1x State Runner-up, 3x Region Champions, and 1x Tarkanian Classic Champions. They have an 84-12 record and a 28 game win streak. Their stats are 2,813 points with 309 made threes, 1,221 rebounds, 702 assists, 570 steals, and 102 blocked shots. As amazing as their varsity statistics are, they’re even more special as human beings. They’re loyal and caring teammates, and hard-working competitors.
I spoke with senior Hallee Smith and asked her what her favorite year was. She said, “All years have been way fun but I’d have to say sophomore year was definitely my favorite.” Senior Brinley Wiese was asked the same question. She said, “I have loved every year, but my favorite would have to be sophomore year. It was way fun and we all had so much fun together.” When asked if they are sad about this being their last year, Hallee replied, “Yes, I’ve really enjoyed playing and it’s gonna be sad playing our last game and just knowing it’s our last.” Brinley said “I will definitely miss it and all the friends that I made from it, but the last game is gonna be very emotional with all the seniors knowing it’s our last High School game ever.
